Earliest Media Essay

Earliest Media

To be honest when I joined this class, I joined for extra credits I never thought I would learn so much about the media. Even though I am surrounded by media constantly (Facebook, Twitter etc) I didn’t realize how far back media when. Media is a medium for (human) communication. One of the first things we learned in this class. Word of mouth was the first definite form of communication and well….media. There once was a time where if you needed something you had to physically go and tell them. As time progressed the telephone was developed. And with the phone you could call someone and yet still you could go and meet them. But with the dawn of the internet you can instant message someone, email and Skype (video chatting) someone. The internet allows us to do things instantaneously and it changed how our world works. Without media our world would stop. Without media our world wouldn’t have even began.

Media is constantly changing. The printing press started putting information out for the public. It was started by the Holy Roman Empire by German Johannes Gutenberg. The printing press gave birth to books and newspapers. Books contain much knowledge but they are slowly changed. Most information is now online and even books are digital now and days. I can’t wait to see how much media progress in the next 5 years. If I think back 5 years ago I was 15 years old and MySpace was the primary social network. And now it’s Facebook (soon to be Google +……….maybe) but the media is constantly changing and shifting. I wonder what it’s going to be in 5 years.

I can’t wait to see what media comes next…………..especially video games but
